Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year!

"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Toot, toot! YAY!"
Well, that is what you might here on a regular New Year. But in a ->Chinese<- New Year, things are a LOT different. Yesterday night was Chinese New Year. For those of you in places like Canada, or USA, where there are lots of Chinese people, you would have already seen the celebration. Here, it's a bit different from other places, as you are allowed to shoot firecrackers and fireworks, so it's very noisy. On exactly 12am, the fireworks are SOO loud that you can't even hear your own voice!
Also, there is a special TV show lasting 5 hours (8pm-1am) for Chinese New Year, called the "Chun Jie Wan Hui", where many famous people perform, sing, and do funny little skits. It's a great show, and I ALWAYS have to watch it, every year, especially because of the funny skits (they're SOOO funny that you would literally explode if you didn't laugh your head off). It's great, and I watched every bit of it (except when mom cut my hair).
I also had a great dinner. It was a FEAST! Unfortunately for the other people that were eating with me, I ate all the baked patatoes first (I love baked patatoes) :-). There was also chicken legs, roast pork (my mom's specialty), and a special delicious something, which I can't describe accurately. We also drank wine and beer (well of course not me!), and I drank CC Lemon (cool Japanese lemon flavoured soda).
And, I told you that fireworks were an important part of Chinese New Year, right? Well, it's sure VERY true here! As I said before, firecrackers and fireworks are very important part of Chinese New Year, and they're literally everwhere that day! It was like a free fireworks show, because there were many people that had those huge, professional fireworks, so it looks better.Especially around my area, sometimes there are fireworks right beside our building!
I had a great Chinese New Year. But there is a special thing this year, is that THIS IS MY FIRST CHINESE NEW YEAR IN CHINA!! Everyone, remember to say to your friends: GONG XI FA CAI!!!
Hurray, hurray!

And coming up next, "Where am I going now?"
