From the 1st President of the United States of America, George Washington, all the way to the 43rd President, George W. Bush, America has had all white presidents.
But on 12:00 pm of January 20th, 2009, America saw its first African-American president in all history. It's amazing that about 50 years before, the Little Rock Nine carefully tried to enter the Little Rock Central High School, as National Guards surrounded them to try and protect them from the angy white mobs who were trying to block their entry.
Fifty years later, the first black president was being sworn in at the US Capitol. It's amazing at how fast we can develop. As President Barack Obama's campaign said, "We Need Change". Segregation is long gone, a mere shadow of the past. People like Barack Obama have changed America, he has made us think back to the successful changes America has made in the past, and the even more important changes we can make in the future.
In his inaugural speech, he mentioned that "all men are created equal" which is a true thing, an important thing that was not realized by whites in the period segregation. America has changed, and WE need to change with America!
May we hope Barack Obama a good term in office!
Cheers!
